Tours
Below you will find descriptions of our three tours for 2012: The Mont Blanc Tour, The Wildflowers and Waterfalls Tour, and The Three Cultures Tour.
All of our hiking tours feature beautiful wildflowers, fabulous mountain vistas and lovely hotels. Each trip emphasizes a different aspect of this fabulous region and differs only in the degree to which each of these qualities is featured. They do not suggest a variation in the type (difficulty) of the hiking and walking that is offered.
The recently departed winter snows and the freshly blooming flowers and grasses in the alpine meadows make early summer an opportune time to see the elusive chamois and steinbock up close in the mountains above Chamonix, France. No less impressive are the views of the snow and glacier covered peaks rising up to meet the dominating summit of Mt Blanc. Chamonix is known for its adventurous spirit and its ideal location in the heart of the French alps. During this tour you will explore this historical town and the many hiking trails that wind throughout the valleys and peaks near Chamonix.

The wildflowers are always one of the highlights of a summer trip in Switzerland; the alps (meadows) in the valleys are carpeted with blooms as the alpine plants announce their presence with splashes of color. During this tour, in early summer, the flowers are especially glorious. Few of the meadows have been cut for hay and the alpine flowers are blooming early, as soon as the snow recedes, to take advantage of the summer days. You will have a chance to see certain early-blooming species that are a rare treat along with a glorious array of dramatic waterfalls and high alpine vistas. The hiking on this tour explores deep glacially carved valleys, lush alpine meadows, and rolling panoramic traverses in the breathtaking Swiss towns of Saas Fee and Wengen.
Highlights
- Immerse yourself in fields of vibrant and fragrant alpine flowers.
- Take in abundant vistas of mountain shaping glaciers and famous snow-capped peaks such as the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau.
- Relax in the quaint and charming Hotel Au Chalet Cairn and enjoy the owner's hand carved accent in each room.
- Enjoy a day of hiking the alps (meadows) in Zermatt under the rocky spire of the Matterhorn.
- Restore yourself with a gentle ride on a lake-steamer along the Brienzersee and an exquisite lunch at the Grandhotel Giessbach.
